Openings & Opportunities |
Open positions are posted directly on the Mobile
Robotics Lab web site. Please access the information here.
Learn about
my research interests, R&D projects and publications
and check if you really want to work on one of these subjects. I always prefer
know personally the students prior to accept them. A Ph.D. is a
"long" term commitment, so I like to know if we match in terms of
technical background, motivation, personality, etc. It is a good idea to take
at least one of my courses.
Graduate
Students who wish to apply for, or are starting a Ph.D. course, and are
considering to develop their theses under my supervision can contact me in my office or lab, or by
sending an e-mail to make an appointment. If it is your case, I thank you for
your interest.
No direct funding: Unless you are admitted to work under some
research project, you should apply for a scholarship for the "Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia"
or some other institution on your own. Naturally I will support your
application if we have agreed on that.
Usually, I
publish in my web site between Apr. and Sep. of each year a list of open
subjects that I propose for Master dissertations. If you have interest on one
of these subjects, or if you want to propose a new subject compatible with my research interests, please contact me.
Prior to
that, you should understand that:
·
You
should develop your work in a continuous way and I will not accept people that
work only during the last month.
You must
demonstrate the evolution of your work every one or two weeks on regular
meetings.
You must work
on the lab and integrated on the team and not alone at home or somewhere else.
You are close
to be a professional so you must behave as one.
I accept
students on a first-come, first-served basis and take into account the student
obtained grades and curriculum. So if you come too late, probably the subject
is already taken.
